r/smallbusiness on Reddit: Help — How do I deal with messages asking for my supplier?

Title says it all.. I know “ignoring” is the obvious answer but there are a few accounts who will not stop asking. Some will say that they are desperate and really need money and have a hard time finding suppliers. I’ve been ignoring them but some really won’t stop messaging. I’m also relieved that refusing to disclose your supplier is normal and okay. Like I said I’m new to this, and with all the people asking the same thing I was starting to question if there was something wrong with me for not wanting to tell them haha I appreciate your response!I do this Q&A on my business’ instagram story every so often where even smaller businesses ask for advice, tips, etc. and I give them shout outs sometimes to help them gain exposure. This person is now implying that I don’t really support smaller businesses just because I don’t share my suppliers.I've had friends of friends get on the phone and they had not hit the High School: "Read 5 articles on the topic and write a 3 page paper." Don't waste my time and your opportunity to have someone with 10+ years of experience on the phone asking Wikipedia level questions. ... Have no regrets! Just say "I am the supplier".Just tell me your supplier's names and I'll take care of the rest. ... Go with your intuition on this one. And all the best growing your business. ... That's why not answering is best. If they REALLY wanted to know and you had a storefront or a small warehouse in an industrial park they could look in your dumpster. They could build a relationship and then when your guard is down ask you for trade secrets.

10 Questions Every Entrepreneur Needs to Ask Suppliers | Entrepreneur

While a supplier might give you a quote for the cost of a product or materials, be sure to ask about other fees, says David Akers, founder of Cleveland-based Sourcing Office, which provides group purchasing and shared services programs for the public and private sector. Sometimes manufacturers will use distributors to help get their brand established, then cut them out of the picture. "It's kind of the cardinal sin of supply chain if a manufacturer jumps directly to the end user," says Bader, but you'll never know unless you ask.You want to find out whether your suppliers will offer a discount for goods that don't arrive on time or pay for goods they didn't deliver and you had to get from another source, Akers says. 7. What is my expected gross margin? If you're a distributor, ask the manufacturer how much you should expect to make selling particular products.8. Under what circumstance might prices change? You need to be prepared for suppliers to spring price increases on you. Ask them what determines a change in price. Is it tied to inflation or an industry index? If prices go up, how much notice will you receive? Here are 10 key questions you should consider asking suppliers before doing business with them:

Schools Ask Families To Spend Big On Supplies As Kids Go Back To Class - Honolulu Civil Beat

Schools often request more than $150 worth of supplies at the start of each year. Unlike some other states, Hawaiʻi has no rule against it. The Hawaiʻi Constitution lacks the same protections for students, and recent state efforts to provide schools with more funds for supplies have fizzled. “It’s stressful financially and emotionally,” Nakasone said. “But then it’s something that we’ve got to do.” · In his strongly worded June 20 memo to principals prohibiting schools from asking students to purchase items in exchange for grades, Superintendent Keith Hayashi made it clear that doing so is unfair to poorer families: “This action can be construed as unequal treatment of students who cannot otherwise afford to bring in certain items or participate fully in these activities due to a lack of finances,” he wrote.Just three days before the start of school, Relinda Nakasone picked up her children’s classroom supply list from Lunalilo Elementary and searched the emptying shelves of Fisher Hawaiʻi for erasers, markers and more. But some parents say the pressure of buying everything on those lists is financially draining, especially when they’re expected to contribute communal supplies, like boxes of tissues or reams of paper, and more specialized items like watercolors and recorders for music class.Hawaiʻi schools are not supposed to require students to buy things in exchange for a grade or extra credit, according to a Department of Education memo issued to principals over the summer. But the guidance is vague, schools don’t always communicate this to families and Hawaiʻi has no policies specifying what principals can and cannot request in supply lists, leaving parents feeling pressured to spend big at start of the year.

These stakes, known as stocks or equities, allow companies to raise capital for operations and growth. Stock prices are in constant flux, influenced by supply and demand from buyers and sellers. The difference between the bid price and the ask price is the bid-ask spread. This spread represents the cost of trading and often serves as a profit margin for market makers, who facilitate transactions by quoting prices. A narrower spread indicates higher liquidity, meaning the stock is actively traded and can be bought or sold easily.

Groups ask CA to nullify Meralco-Eeri power supply agreement

Groups on Monday asked the Court of Appeals to nullify the Energy Regulatory Commission’s approval of a 1,200 MW power supply deal MANILA, Philippines – Multisectoral groups on Monday asked the Court of Appeals to nullify the Energy Regulatory Commission’s approval of a 1,200 MW power supply agreement between the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) and gas plant Excellent Energy Resources Inc.The petition argued that the ERC acted with grave abuse of discretion when it approved the power supply agreement that would allegedly allow Eeri to collect P932 million for the connection of point-to-point assets twice–once from Meralco’s consumers and again from the National Grid Corp., which would pass the cost to all grid consumers.Earlier in April, the Department of Energy raised concerns over the delay in the delivery of Eeri’s power supply to Meralco, which was supposed to start in December 2024.In a statement, Meralco said it has yet to see a copy of the petition but reiterated that its power supply agreements and the rates undergo “strict regulatory review and approval process before being implemented.”

Bid and Ask - Stock Market Terms Glossary

Th Bid and Ask in the Stock Market are the highest price a purchaser will go and the lowest price a seller will go. The ask (also known as the “offer”) is the lowest price at which a seller is willing to sell the same stock. For day traders and high-frequency traders, the spread can be a significant factor in profit and loss. In most markets today, this is facilitated through electronic trading platforms where buyers and sellers post their orders.

Bid and Ask Definition, How Prices Are Determined, and Example

Bid and ask prices are set by the market and the buying and selling decisions of the people and institutions investing in that security. The bid and ask prices will gradually shift upward if demand outstrips supply. Bid and ask prices will drift downward if supply outstrips demand.Bid and ask is a current stock price quote that indicates the highest price a buyer is willing to pay and the lowest price a seller is willing to accept. The bid-ask spread works to the advantage of the market maker. Quoting a price of $10.50 / $10.55 for ABC stock indicates the market maker's willingness to buy ABC at $10.50, the bid price, and sell it at $10.55, the asked price. The bid-ask spread can widen dramatically during periods of illiquidity or market turmoil because traders won't be willing to pay a price beyond a certain threshold and sellers may not be willing to accept prices below a certain level.

The most confusing economics concepts explained series part 3: Supply and demand

For example, the supply of a popular, limited-edition pair of sneakers can determine how much people will pay for them. If there is a limited supply, and they are set to sell out quickly, the asking price can be higher than a similar sneaker with a much larger supply that people know they can buy at any time. The seller must try to ask for the highest amount they can without tipping the scales and turning off your sneaker demand. This relationship, or tension between supply and demand, can keep the prices for many goods within a reasonable range—provided they aren’t interfered with artificially. So whether real or perceived, supply shortages can drive demand. Further, demand can be reduced by supply surpluses. And this ongoing ebb-and-flow causes the prices you’re asked to pay to fluctuate. What is supply and demand? This post dives into this economic principle and its effect on product pricing and availability.
